Crowd-Pleasing Recipes for a Holiday Breakfast

I originally planned on posting a new recipe this morning, but the pressure of posting something "holiday related" became too much. Instead, I realized some people may be hosting a Christmas breakfast tomorrow morning, and perhaps oatmeal will be involved.

(In my perfect world, oatmeal would be served at every morning gathering and everyone would love it as much as you and I do. Sigh.)

Here are seven oatmeal recipes that a) can feed a crowd, and b) are at least mildly holiday-themed.

Crowd-Pleasing Recipes for a Holiday Breakfast

Nothing says Christmas more than the intense spices of gingerbread! Unlike
the cookies, this oatmeal would make an incredibly nutritious holiday breakfast; it's
entirely sweetened by bananas! Not a banana fan? No worries--the cinnamon, cloves,
and ginger make that banana entirely undetectable.

The picture shows a single serving, but the post lists the directions for both a
single serving and big batch for 4-5 people. If your family loves apple pie,
this oatmeal would be a big hit on Christmas morning!

Some people reserve pumpkin pie solely for Thanksgiving, but I associate it with
all fall and winter holidays. Additionally, this recipe is (in my opinion) my best work. Whenever
people want me to make oatmeal for them, I always turn to this one. It's moan-worthy!

Everyone loves banana bread, and this is the flavor that hooked me on oatmeal
to begin with! Kids and adults alike would enjoy this tasty porridge.

Does your Christmas morning involve a league of children? This PB&J recipe
might be perfect for you. Of course, I'm 23, and I love PB&J, so it's not just for kids!

Maybe baked oatmeal isn't your thing. If that's the case, try this
stove-top, steel-cut version instead. Personally, I prefer this one over the baked
version (but I've always preferred the stove over the oven!).

Although I'll be the first person to recommend my steel-cut version, I can't
put together a list of great recipes without including the baked version
of my pumpkin pie oatmeal. If you're looking for something that doesn't take a ton of
"nursing" as you prepare your other breakfast goodies, this easy baked version
might be the best option for you!

What will you be eating Christmas morning?

My family is not oatmeal eaters, so sadly I will not be enjoying my daily porridge on Christmas morning. Instead, I'm making a vegan pumpkin french toast (using Trader Joe's cranberry walnut loaf!).

  1. Thank you so much for putting these together, Lauren! On christmas morning we will be having PB & J Baked Oatmeal. I have six little siblings (not to mention older siblings that love PB & J too), so it will be perfect! I'm hoping you will post some crazy/unusual oatmeal for New Years....!
    Blessings, Emily J.

  2. My family aren't big fans of oatmeal either, or at least as big of fans as I am. We'll be having a homemade Apple Pie French Toast Bake. But I may have to try one of these recipes for lunch!
